Todays update.

She got her own room finally and is out of the ICU. It's a big help mentally to be out of there for her. More comfortable bed and chair. although she was changing her mind by the end of the day. Having to lay in bed that long is starting to get to her. She couldn't eat for about 3 days before the surgery and has been on an ice chip diet since the surgery. They heard bowel sounds so she should be allowed to eat and drink but they want to take it easy. She agree the last thing she wants to do is get sick from drinking to much. So as annoyed as she is with not even being able to get a glass of water she's willing to put up with it a little longer.

Other than that the only complaints are getting restless and ready to go home. She is walking around though which I still think is crazy for less than 48 hours after a 5-6 hour surgery.

Glad to hear this. Tell her we at the Tec house say "Hi, and hope your feeling better real soon".

When my wife's uncle and dad were in the hospital, I bought them cards, magazines, video games, puzzle's, anything I could think of to keep 'em busy mentally.

She's an avid reader and has books as well as a yatzee (sp!?) handheld game. Right now they got her on this goofy 5 min pain med drip. Which means she's wide awake for about 2 minutes and the other three vary! quite entertaining to watch but gets really frustrating for her when she tries to do anything else. However the new room has cable so I have a feeling last night was a marathon of "what not to wear" and "little people, big world"

gees I guess I haven't updated you all in some time. sorry about that. The absolute best news is the word came down today that they found no spread of the cancer. She is doing a lot better and today seems to be getting back to
"her old self". Although she has had a little bit of "feeling sorry for herself". Her words not mine. Over all she is doing great with visible improvements every day. She started eating some crackers today which is her first food other than clear liquids in over a week. so hopefully we are down to a couple days before she gets out. I guess technically tomorrow makes a week which is when she was hoping to come home. She seems to be expecting it to take a couple more days and seems to be ok with it.

I've been terrible at updating this. She came home finally last night (Sat). She slept 11 hours from what I've told. She didn't sleep much in the hospital. She had a darn good day at home! Everything is going swimmingly so far. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers.

Beardman, I can't believe you are up this late updating us with everything you have being going thru.

Let me be the first (I can't get to sleep as usual) to offer my warmest congratulations on her coming home. That in itself, is sometimes the best medicine towards becoming healthy. Trust me, I know after my all my surgeries. Being in familiar surroundings and among family and friends, goes a long way in the path to recuperation. Like Judy said in The Wizard of Oz, "There is no place like home..."

Thanks for the great news.
