NRA Poll

I am getting ready to join the NRA. I was wondering how many others have or are thinking of joining.

I am. While they may not do exactly as I wish, and while they have their issues, there remains the undeniable fact that they are the biggest and most powerful ally I (we) have in D.C.

It's my job as a citizen to be a responsible gun owner and show all the grabbers that, contrary to popular belief, my gun won't go off killing someone on its own, and me CCW'ing won't lead to a new Wild West. But I simply don't have the connections required to make an influence on an individual level with the people running things; that's what I pay the NRA to do for me.

I think they do a good job.

Yes, I'm a member. It's a small cash outlay to have a powerful voice in Washington.

Amen brother burning skull head!

I agree with most that the NRA does and believe that the org is responsible for some of the freedom we have intact today.

I just wish they wouldn't send the cheesy letters all the time asking for more money. It works for some, but not for me. I read them, and throw them away. I ain't got no money. I'm spending it on ammo!

I might consider joining someday, but my thinking is more Libertarian and I have a problem joining an organization filled with the "God, Guns and Country" crowd. I know this forum is too, and I'm not trying to criticize them. I'm "Pro-Choice" also, but that doesn't mean I'm going to join some group filled with "Anti-Man" San Francisco types. I'm just not big on joining groups. I think how I think, and do what I want. On the one issue of Gun Control though, the NRA is definitely in line with my views.

Life Member. Its a small price to give to those that support not just ownership, but also eductaion and shooting sports in general.
Not sure what the annual membership is now, but I sure couldn't do what their collective power does for $30-35 a year.

Yep, two years and counting. Heck, last gunshow I was at, was when I decided to renew my membership. The guy there actually talked my wife into signing up, and she don't even like guns (as far as shooting them is concerned.) She did the $10 associate member thing.

I joined the Experimental aircraft assocation for a year once. All I got out of the deal was a magazine and lots of request for more money. What got me really pissed is when I found out they were forcing people off their property so they could have it. They didn't want anyone selling so much as a hotdog without proceeds going to the EAA. NRA isn't much different these days. People just want to be to greedy.

Yes, I'm a member, mainly because I had to be one to join the local gun club. However, although they sometimes do things that irritate me, they're one of, if not the most powerful groups to fight for our Second Amendment rights. If only for that reason alone, I'm sure I'll be a member for the rest of my life.
