Lifetime member. While there are some things about the NRA I don't agree with, overall they are well worth it. Eddie Eagle, competition sponsorship, the legal defense fund, training and certification, insurance, etc.
Considering how hard the liberals are going after our 2nd amendment rights, I am glad they are busting butt to keep my guns in my hands and not in Chuck Shumer/Diane Feinstein/Barbara Boxer/John Kerry/Ted Kennedy's.

Other than sending requests for donations what is it that bothers you about them. I don't even blink when my membership comes around.

Be sure to fill out the survey and send it in after you get your new member packet. The new hat that you get in return is really not bad looking. I've been wearing mine. Definitely looks better than the old hat with the patch on it.

Here it is:

I really enjoy the American Rifleman magazine as well..before I joined there were times when I bought it from the bookstore.

The way I see it... The bigger the NRA is, the more voters clearly have an interest in the second ammendment, and the more our "leaders" have to pay attention to that fact. It's a quick way for them to find out, at a glance, what the hot-button issues are.

The NRA has made some concessions in the past, but it has also made great progress.

For those who say it preaches too much of a religious... thing... That's because most of its members are indeed of the "God and Country" crowd. However, you will never see the NRA using its political pull for anything but gun owners' rights.

I let them know that I would never be sending any further contributions beyond my membership in, and they stopped sending me stuff. Good. They don't want to waste money on mailing that don't generate revenue, so if this is your problem with them, let 'em know!

Why someone would say "I'll never join" is beyond me.

I somehow got on their mailing list and was always receiving $10 off offers to join in the mail. I finally acted on one. Right after I joined I received several more offers asking me to extend my membership another year for another $25.

While they can be annoying, asking for donations all the time and wanting you to renew your membership 1 month after you just renewed, they are the only ones fighting for the cause.

Pay your small dues, enjoy your magazine, ignore the mailers and enjoy your 2nd amendment rights!
