That is awesome! Lucky kid!

While I was a young one my father did have a rifle or two. However he was not really into guns... His rifles were his tools to go hunt and bring back food.
He did teach me to respect all guns and the concise difference between a water pistol, bb gun and a real gun. I didn't get my first pellet gun until I was 12 and I could only shoot it under supervision until I was 13.

However when I was in wal-mart/toy store or wherever I never detached from the parental units and ran off and played with toys.

IMHO parenting is a very difficult task and no one way is the right way. I was raised one way I turned out just fine and others are taught differently and they turn out fine.

To sum it up

The problem doesn't lie in parenting, it lies with the lack of parenting.

I love the sword included in the pic. Everyone knows that you have to have a good, sharp blade for a variety of tasks.

I don't think there's anything wrong with letting kids shoot each other with toy guns, so long as the real ones are locked up and any time a child is shooting a real gun, an adult is ACTIVELY watching and within arms length.
Right on!

Yep, sure can!..

Check out this site:

Tom Oleson's Collection

Tom is a regular contributor over at czshooters.com and makes some very nice wooden handgrips for pistols.

His collection is AMAZING! To see it in all of its awesomeness, click each photo on the left hand side of the page. That will take you to a sub-page (or pages) for all of that particular manufacturer's guns he owns.

Don't miss the 3 OTHER pages to be found off the main page.

Hey Rustynuts, can your boy come out and play?!? I recognize about half of those "guns". My boys combined might have something like that, but not quite.

Both of my boys are mature enough to realize the difference between toy and real, so I don't worry too much about muzzle control for toys.

short story: A few weeks ago my boys and I were going to go out shooting. My 7 yr old wanted to take his shotgun. I said, sure, great. I told him he could take it out to the truck. It's always only with my permission that they get to look or touch any firearm. He picked it up, and said, "I need to check it dad to make sure it's not loaded." Then he proceeded to rack the action on it while safely pointing it away from everything and everybody important. He never swept the barrel across anyone. Makes a dad proud.

Let the water gun/nerf gun wars begin!!!!!!!!!!
