say no to bullets after dark?
So it is almost 1am and I just got back from my weekly excursion to wal-mart to buy a few food items and what not... I do this quite often and everytime I go I pick up a box of blazer brass .45 so I can keep my stocks up.
Every time I go it is late. Why you ask? A.) I am a bit reclusive. B.) to many people during the day C.) Working during the day. It has never been a problem with buying ammo this late. But tonight it was. After waiting for 20 minutes at the counter someone finally walks up and tells me that he doesn't think I can buy ammo after midnight. He even calls his manager and confirms this. Why all the sudden can I not buy ammo at night? Isn't wal-mart about efficacy and convenience?

I'm never up past 11PM so I guess I'll never know.

Not in the slightest.
The reasoning I got from the manager was that someone could buy ammo leave load the gun and come back and start shooting. I was speechless. I started thinking maybe just maybe wal-mart has some exclusive bullets that only fire after midnight. I guess I can't do anything about it except get there earlier. I just hate having to deal with the hordes of people in wal-mart and then if you're buying anything else besides bullets they force you to check out at register "15" the infamous cigarette isle that is always 20 people in a line strong. Up until now I just accepted the strange looks I get for buying handgun ammunition in the middle of the night.

It's not Wal-Mart policy. It happens because
1) Somebody lost the keys to the ammo cabinet 2) Somebody is too lazy and so is the manager 3) You have a quirky state law prohibiting this.

I boycott Wal-Mart after their incompetent staff failed to check me out one day. I just wanted ONE box of ammo but they couldn't handle the pressure.

I have read lots of posts about buying ammo at Walmart since joinging 3yrs ago and I have noticed most of the complaints seem to come from states that are more gun friendly than Ca.
I have never experienced one problem in buying ammo from any of the Walmarts I have gone to. I have never been escorted out by a mgr. for buying multiple boxes of ammo (not a case I will admit) either. Heck, one time, my son bought some 357sig ammo by mistake before we met up for the day. I went to the store and explained he made a mistake and I needed 357 magnum ammo as I didn't even have a gun that shot the sig. They exchanged the ammo even tho the company policy says they aren't supposed to. I just paid the difference in price between the two. I just wish they sold guns in Ca. again, but they won't anymore because of a problem a few years back. |
