Nice to know she'll be thinking about me...

Dear Mr. B:

Thank you for writing to me to express your support for "right to carry" laws. I appreciate hearing from you and I welcome the opportunity to respond.

Having the right to carry a concealed weapon is a subject that has been extensively debated in our country. While some states, including ffice:smarttags">California, have passed laws allowing people to apply for concealed carry permits, others choose not to allow such permits. There continues to be discussions about whether there should be a national standard given these differences.

As you know, Sen. John Thune (R-SD) introduced S. 388, a national right-to-carry reciprocity bill, which would provide national reciprocity for state carry licensees. Currently the bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee, of which I am a member. Please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind if the Committee or the full Senate takes up this bill for further consideration.

Again, thank you for your letter. I hope that you will continue to keep me informed on the issues of importance to you. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

Hey nickb,
Do you still have a copy of what you sent her?

Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't she the concealed holder who opposes our ability to do the same (or even own)?

Can we start a petition on this and hopefully we can pull together a sizable list of people who would like to see this happen?

If so:

I don't have a copy, but it was pretty straight forward with the following points.

The right to defend ourselves was critical.

Many, many people in other states carry guns everyday and we don't have wild west shootouts.

The Brady exec admitted that no law previously proposed by his organization could have prevented the VT murders.

I believe she does have her CCW permit.

Funny. When I read this letter, I hear a distant cackle in my head...

When she was the mayor of SF, Cal, they interviewed her on TV and asked about getting death threats. She pulled a .38 from her handbag, waved it at the camera and said something to the effect of "Have they seen one of these?" with a big poop-eating grin.

This of course when everyone else was being disarmed.

That's all I ever needed to know about her.

I think you should feel flattered that she is even willing to tell her $5.20/hour student temp to spend the time to copy and paste a reply to you!
