Can you elaborate more? Exactly where was the intruder? Was he inside the garage with your father still? (If so, you must have one HUGE garage if there was 15-20 yards between them)

Did his movement immediately appear to be aggressive towards your father?

Was the intruder outside the garage? Was your father inside or outside the garage?

If the intruder was outside and your father inside, then that would definitely constitute aggression by him coming back inside with possible intent to injure or kill.

We have a pretty big yar, the gurage is about 10 yards from our door steps and thers a little play area inbetween for the kids, the theif was on the other end of the gurage rolling out the wheels and so the gurage is a 2 car gurage, which makes it about 15-20 yards from the door step where my dad was at to where the bad guy was at.
I dont know but I had these thoughts in my head while runing to the door, it seemed like eternity and I had time to think all the things I wanted but I had this one thought in my head:
"I will shoot him if he is anywhere near my father, if he is not, is it nessassary to shot him? I read once in a book that if he is in your house you cant kill him and only use nessary force, so what if this guy is outside? can I shoot him?"

odd, I had time to think all this while sprinting from my bedroom which is about a 10 yard dash down the hallway and another 10 yard dash thru the kitchen then another 5 yard dash out the laundry room to the door step where my father was at.
I also just remembered "killed or be killed, dont panic and when I engage him, have distance and place my shots." We were taught that in our paintball team and I was about to use it again, but this time the real deal.

Thanks guys for all the support, I am very well aware now, espeically thinking that it may happen but not in the near future..and i did..it sure brings my alertness up 150%.

on a serious note, glad things went alright. so did he make off with anything? it sounds like he ran off, but you said he had taken rims and what not.

since I presume there was over $400 dollars worth of property he was attempting to steal.
The Rims that he would have stolen if we didnt see him cost $1200 each wheel and that was excluding the R compound tires!

The guy didnt take anything, if he did then it was little stuff, but I think he was more intrested in getting the big bucks so he didnt loose anytime looking around for the little stuff...

Does everyone agree?

Now, for those stupid gun law banners or trying to take the 2A away, if this situation was to happen and i didnt have a gun, my father would have been hurt or maybe even killed!
You guys vote for the people that make the rules there. Feel free to do something about it. Are you a NRA member? Are you doing anything (besides complaining) to change the laws in Commiefornia? Just curious.

Yes, I am a NRA member, as a matter of fact, I just signed for another 3 years.

I'm a member of the NRA and California Pistol and Rifle Assoc. The memberships were both won on a karma courtesy of Overkill, but I rejoined the NRA and will be doing so with the latter.

I also wrote my congresswoman, Mary Bono re Hr 1022 and she said she supported my view that it is a bad bill. She also states she is a strong supporter of 2A.

I don't bother to write to Feinstein and Boxer anymore as it is a waste of my time. The former is the former mayor of SF and always gets reelected to the Senate and Boxer is left of her. I will have to wait until they die (of natural causes of course) or retire to hopefully get someone better.

They are part of the reason I left the Dems and am now an Independent.

don't know if he needed to since they guy only took little stuff
"The guy didnt take anything, if he did then it was little stuff, but I think he was more intrested in getting the big bucks so he didnt loose anytime looking around for the little stuff..."

But i would have called them anyway since they guy is out there still and armed with a large knife... could either you or your fathe describe him to the police? I don't know if there is a time in which you have to report the crime but I still would think the neighbors would want to know this guy is lurking around...
