Unfortunately the "stick the 'Gear' to the dash" technique is illegal in OH....
'Tis complicated, but the gun has to be inside a container with some kind of closing mechanism (a zipper seems fine) if it's not worn. (It has to be in a holster if you're wearing it in a vehicle. Doesn't matter when out of the car.) The "container" is supposed to be in plain sight when you're in the car. You can tuck it under the seat or some such if you get out. (A glovebox is OK. A locking console seems to be but don't quote me.... Told you it was complicated.... Regards,

One of the draw back of IWB. I wear a paddle and simply lift my loose shirt and put it between my body and the pistol. I sits at 330ish and I can draw while belted (barely).
Should I be in a bad part of town or something I'll take my pocket gun and holster and wedge it between in the seat and center console. Keeps it from moving and when I draw the holster stays wedged.

First off I would recommend that you never leave your gun laying loose in your vehicle such as rapped in a towel. If you have to do any evasive maneuvers in your vehicle than that pistol can become a flying object that you are trying to catch or dodge and it can easily land some place were you can't reach it. As for securing it while out take a look at this safe. I use one and feel very confident for short time storage. http://www.amazon.com/BRAND-NOT-SPEC.../dp/B000HBB15U
What I do while driving is keep the pistol on my person with either an IWB or OWB holsters and just transfer it to the lock box when going some place I can't carry into. Hope this helps a little with your decision. Mike

My main concern is with the NJ laws since that's the state other than PA where I am most likely to venture:
http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/fire_trans.html It doesn't appear that the firearm and ammunition need to be locked in separate containers, only that the gun be unloaded.
