Sin City - GO SEE IT NOW
Well, I saw this last night and I must say that this is by far one of the best movies I've seen in recent memory.
I'd seen the trailer but I still wasn't prepared for how cool this movie looks - the use (and non-use) of color is absolutely amazing. As I've never read the comic books that this is based on, I can't tell you how close it follows them, but a friend of mine that saw it with me said that it follows extremely closely and he was very impressed at how well it was adapted to film. The weaponry was also very interesting. Being a relative amateur in my knowledge of firearms, I can't give you the details here, but I was impressed with how it turned out. And Springfield was very prominently placed in the middle segment (Clive Owen looks to be packing a Springfield 1911) Also, this is a definite not-safe-for-children movie. There is quite a bit of nudity, and some of the violence is quite graphic and brutal. But, damn, the visuals and the dialogue are so well done that you actually find yourself laughing at some of things that happen even though in another movie you'd probably cringe. My wife was even laughing at the some of the ways people got taken out. And yes, Jessica Alba does look amazing. Now that mention it (or am I the one that mentioned it?), all of the women look very good! Anyway, I give this a two thumbs up and 11 stars out of 10. This is definitely a movie to get the Collector's Edition when it comes out.

I'm just waiting for Tuesday.. A good matinee on a day off with very few others in the theater.. Then a trip to the range.. Could you ask for a better day off?
Ohh, and from what I'm told, in the comic book, Alba's character is practically nekked through every comic. I can only dream the movie is the same.

I still own all of the graphic novels from my teen years. I loved them then, and I'm sure the movie will be great. Frankly I'm pleasantly surprised they made a movie out of it.

No she is not.
I saw it last night and snuck in a flask of wild turkey. Thank god I did. The first half hour is tits tits tits. The rest of the movie has none. Nice way to sucker you in. The film has some of the worse dialog that I ever had to sit through, and the acting was subpar. I hear it was just like the comic book, and if so, that comic book sucked ass. Lots of revolvers and 1911s, but utter nonsense about guns. Hell, there was a line said that someone could not shoot someone else because they got their revolver wet. Jesus. If you like comic books, then go see it. If you have a brain that grew beyond age 12, then you are going to have trouble with this movie. |

Quentin Tarentino directed a couple of scenes....so I guess I have to see it. Good or bad. (notice my avatar).
Peace, D.
