Left holding a bag of poop

The robber was left holding a bag of poop.
That's all he had to show for the holdup of a 32-year-old woman walking her dog Monday night on Monroe Avenue in Kensington.
When the gunman realized what was in the baggie he had just grabbed, he threw it down in disgust and repeatedly demanded money, pointing a gun at the woman, police said.
After a third demand, he turned the gun toward the woman's small dog, Misty.
"He pulled the trigger on the gun twice, but it didn't fire," said San Diego police Detective Gary Hassen.
In the darkness, the robber ran to a small silver car, got in the passenger side and was driven away north on Marlborough Avenue about 8 p.m.
The woman, shaken and in tears, returned home and called 911. She could not be reached for comment yesterday.
Residents of the upscale San Diego neighborhood, east of Interstate 15 near Adams Avenue, were shocked, especially those with dogs of their own.
"I guess you can't walk your dog at night anymore," said Sandy Gilchrist, who was doing just that yesterday afternoon in Kensington Mini Park, not far from where the robbery occurred.
"The guy got what he deserved, though," she said.
Another neighbor said street robberies are not the norm in the area.
"Kensington is crime-free," said Luis Nunez. "This is very unusual."
The victim told officers she left her home about 7:30 p.m. to walk her dog on the north side of Monroe Avenue about a block from her residence when someone ran up from behind her and grabbed a plastic bag containing dog feces out of her left hand, according to the police report.
At first, the woman thought a friend was playing a joke.
When she turned around and saw the gun, she realized it was no prank.
She described the man as Hispanic, 5-feet-8, in his 20s, with a heavy build, mustache and sideburns. He was wearing a red baseball cap, dark-blue or black long-sleeved sweat shirt, dark-colored shorts and tennis shoes.
When he checked the contents of the plastic bag, he threw it to the ground and said, "Give me your money."
The woman told him she didn't have any.
He ordered her two more times to give him money, and she kept telling him no.
After the third demand, she said the man pointed the handgun at her dog, pulled the trigger twice, but the gun did not fire.
She said she had taken gun-safety classes and recognized the type of gun and caliber – a black .22 semiautomatic.
She could not provide a further description or license plate of the getaway car.Police failed to find the baggie.

At least now my wife understands why I walk my dog wearing my XD at night. I mainly worry about coyotes though.
