The Doors

Well, this is not on the gun topic, but this is also the "Chatter Box", so here goes.

I have never been a big fan of the band the Doors. I have always liked a few of their songs.

Anyhow, several friends of mine are touring Roadies for major acts. One of my friends comes to town with the band "Riders on the Storm". It is comprised of two of the original Doors members, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. I get invited out to see the show for free. I was less than excited to see the band, but I was very excited to see my good friend that works for them. I do not get to see him often.

So, I do a little research and find out that seats for this show go up to $200 depedning on the seat. Then I find out that it is SOLD OUT. It was at the Cleveland House of Blues.

I head out to the show on Thursday, and my friend gives me a stage pass. I get to go back and meet most of the band(a true honor). SO, let me tell you. The show was AWESOME. Un-frickin' believable. Sound was amazing. Ray Manzarek is a genius on keyboards. Krieger is a guitar god. Their replacement singer was phenomenal. Didn't take me long to recognize the bass player as Phil Chen from Rod Stewart fame(I play bass, myself). I did not realize how many doors songs I love. They started off with Roadhouse Blues. Love that driving guitar riff! Wow!

They may tour around the nation again this year and if any of you get a chance to see them, DO IT!! It is a once in a lifetime honor to see these guys.

When I got home, I had to wash the liberalism off me, however!!!

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just opened a special Doors exhibit yesterday. Sounds like that show was timed to coincide with the opening.

The doors always amazed me. Used to listen to them a lot in college. May have had something to do with the lifestyle.

Your little "Baby Boomers" are doing quite good. I was standing next to the valet parking lot, and the AVERAGE car was a Ferrari 550 Maranello, I also saw a Aston Martin V-12 Vanquish.

I have heard they put on a really good show. Hopefully they come out to San Diego to the HOB so I I can go and checkout the show. I have seen quite a few cover bands the last few years and most have been great.

Appetite for Destruction is one of my favorite, They are of course a GNR cover.
