Why is my XD9 so LOUD?!
I've shot a few 9mm's and I know right off hand that my XD9 is twice as loud at the Beretta 92 that I used to have...
My dad shot it today, the XD and I was standing about 3 foot beside him and I could feel it on my chest each time he shot... Im just wondering what makes this gun so much louder than my others.. It's also louder than the Ruger .45 that I have.. but no where near close to the .357 |

Well, Yesterday I was out in a field shooting... But that was at someone elses house.. Today I was in my back yard... both are open areas... My Aunt and Uncle also said they thought it was pretty loud.

Well, I don't have a XD-9, so I can't really relate. I KNOW my XD40 is loud....
Chalk it up to guns being loud....??? Or did you forget your hearing protection....

Nah, I use my ear plugs.. I didnt the very first time I shot it, the excitement made me forget em.
I know I can shoot the .45 and my ears will ring for just a few minutes... The first time I shot my 9, they rang for about 6 hours.. Honest. I didnt know if something was wrong and going to EXPLODE?! lol... I've just never heard a semi-small caliber like a 9 be SO DAMN LOUD... Maybe it's just the XD's and their design? |

Hmm, I haven't noticed my XD9 Service being louder than any other 9mm I have shot. If your ears are ringing you should be using better hearing protection.
