Who says you have to belong to the NRA to fight for your gun rights? I don't belong and I don't let other people do my work for me. I write my elected officials whenever anti-gun legislation is introduced and express my feelings to them directly. I believe it has more of an impact than not saying anything and letting the NRA speak for me. I also don't hold it against anyone that wants to join the NRA, to each his own. But don't condemn everyone that does not support them monetarily.

Personally, I belong to the NRA, now the GOA. I write letters nearly weekly to politicians, including ones that do not represent me. And, most of all, I spend LOTS of money on new guns to help keep the industry alive. |

You do not need to belong to a group to support the 2A. I can write my reps just fine without the pre-written letters handed out by the NRA.
I think the NRA needs some reform. However I also believe the best way to do that is from the inside. So all the people who hate the NRA should join and "vote" once your in the club. Trust me if your membership is at stake they are going to listen more than when its not. I keep mulling over joining. Usually when I can afford it I'm busy shooting my budget and when I can't I'm wishing I had a membership.

Beleive it or not...I am not an NRA member.
Seriously! My big beef with the NRA is two fold: First, they spend WAY too much money on scare-filled mailouts to its members. Telling all of us to vote against Clinton or whoever. Well....HELLO...99% of the people they are wasting monies mailing to are NOT going to vote for these people anyways. Wasting money and resources, if you ask me. Second, it seems to me, judging by the NRA's printed materials, that the NRA is mainly full of Elmer Fudd type hunters that love their break open duck gun but would not mind if they took away my M-1 Carbine or your AK or AR. The guys that drive Range Rovers to the field, wear tweed jackets while grouse hunting with their papmered registered birddogs and 5000 dollar shotguns - you know the type! Too much emphasis on supporting hunters and hunting rights. AS a hunter, I am not against hunting, but the 2nd Ammendment is NOT ABOUT DUCK AND DEER HUNTING...and never was. You would think that an organization that touts itself as being so Constitution-savvy would know this. but they make themselves out to be a glorified hunters rights group. This is how I see it. I don't hate the NRA or want to belittle anyone that joins, I just think they waste alot of collected monies and their efforts seem a little misdirected at times. - Brickboy240
