What is this gun?
It has been bothering me. If you saw the Bourne Identity (the first movie) do you know what rifle the assasin was using to kill the african dictator and later try to get Bourne with? It looked like a FAL to me but they did not show it very lon gon screen. Any ideas?

Thanks but it seems there is not much help there in that thread. Most of it deals with the second movie, Bourne Supremacy.

Sig Sauer sg-550 modified with a supressor.
![]() You get hit with this it might leave a red mark. Caliber 5.56 x 45mm (.223) Operation Semi-Auto, Gas Operated Overall Length (Stock Extended) 44.5" (1130mm) Overall Length (Stock Folded) 35.7" (905mm) Barrel Length 25.6" (650mm) Weight (w/o scope) 11.9 lbs (5.4kg) Weight (w/ Hendsoldt 1.5-6x42mm) 13.6 lbs (6.2kg) Mag. Capacity 20 or 30 rnd box Numumber of Grooves 6 Rate of twist 1 in 10" Made in Switzerland, the SG 550 is one of the few 5.56mm sniper rifles out there. Developed From the SG 550 assault rifle, accuracy is improved by the addition of a sensitive double-pull trigger, and also a heavy barrel. A bi-pod is standard as is a fully adjustable stock. I have no first experience with this weapon, but I suspect that the accuracy should be fairly good, with sub MOA performance.

I agree.
Some say the suppressor is all Hollywood as it covered the length of the barrel, instead of screwing on at the end. However, I have read that this suppressor would be effective cause it would push the gasses back into the barrel to slow the bullet down so as to prevent it from making a sonic boom as it reached the speed of sound. I don't know, not an expert on suppressors. |

I've never used a supressor, but from what I've read most large caliber rifles use a "wet" can supressor. Part of the can is filled with a lithium grease and that some how absorbes the energy in a smaller space. You've seen those movies with the uzzi and the big silencer on the front, looks like a stack of coke cans? Those are "dry cans and it uses the gases to push back on its self lowering the sound of exit. Don't quote me on that though.
