I'm glad that people are still concerned with this story. I'm also glad that the BP is getting more time in the news lately. In the 11 months I've been in the hiring process for the BP, I've realized how LITTLE information is out there on what they do.

As I leave for FLETC soon, it makes me feel better that there's a section of the public that gives a damn and will support me and what I'll be doing.

It's a crying shame the way that Johnny Sutton and the Bush administration has hung out Ramos and Compean to dry. I'm just heading down there with the frame of mind that if I have to fire on duty, I'm making sure that there isn't anyone left alive to run back to Mexico and sue me months later.

You live in Virginia...I'm here in Texas...you haven't a clue as to how bad it is in a border state.

I am not saying that the border patrol should not use deadly force if the situation calls for it and the ROE for the BP agents possibly should be loosened, what happened here http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=51417 with these two agents facing prison time for doing their jobs is a travesty of justice. In my first post I said that I want the Government to actually support them when they do their jobs, I don't believe that making every illegal coming across the border a target is the solution.
I have seen the numbers http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/illegalimm.html
I know what a huge problem it is even though I have just read about it and watched it secondhand, thanks to newspapers, magazines and the internet, I don't need to live in a border state. I have been to Arizona, believe me this is not the first time I have heard about the problem.
Brickboy I completely agree with your post.

"No where in my post did I say shoot them on the streets and job sites."

I realize that, and I did not say that you did. I was asking when do the illegals cease to become targets? Is it once they are out of your rifle sights or once they have a job or are they fair game and it would be acceptable to track them from the border to wherever and shoot them when you find them?
I was taking your post literally and I'm just curious as to how far you thought this out.

I specificaly said fence/desert, even then I said that if they are in the desert they need to be taken in unless they resist. Once they make it into town they need to be tracked down arrested and deported if possible there is to much of a chance for collateral damage there.

Then again this is probably why I'm not in charge of something like that.

Dig a very large deep enough ditch along the border, fill with water, add piranhas. Problem solved.

Having personally seen Brazillian children bathe in the Amazon river (and tributaries) that's INFESTED with piranahs, I'm confident that such fish would not stop someone desparate to cross the border.

Apparently, those fish don't bother anything unless they smell blood.

Okay, fill it with saltwater and bull sharks (very territorial) and bluefish....

Ok, I see what's happening here. My first post was directed towards the author of this thread, and you took it as directed towards you. Then when I responded I was again focusing on the thread authors comments not yours.
You did specifically state that only the fence would be the free fire zone, Jeep did not. Still AT4s and MGs on Mexican families? I can almost understand using heavy weapons on the drug smugglers, and the coyotes. But even then, do they have no rights what so ever?

I've heard stories from border patrol agents (unconfirmed no news reports or anything) where they've had Mexican Military vehilces pull up on thier side of the Rio Grande and open fire with mounted machine guns on the Border Patrol agents only armed with pistols and maybe semi-auto rifles. They were covering the crossing of some illegals. Maybe they were drug smugglers I don't know. I do know the Mexican govt. has a vested interest in keeping drugs flowing over the border into America.

As far as I"m concerned any of those people crossing the fence COULD be a drug smuggler or a terrorist. You want to jump that fence if I was in charge you would be risking your own life.

And I don't even want to get started on the damn water barrels in the middle of the desert thing. That pisses me off to no end.
