Gun rentals are easy at firing ranges

No kidding, but some people have no idea what a gun rental means. My roommate thought that you rented a gun for a day or two when he first heard about gun rentals.
The interesting parts of the article is this
"If you're going to shoot on a range with a rented gun, you should have your license," Gemme said. "That's the only way to know if a person has a clean background."
Gemme said the forms that unlicensed shooters fill out are useless because they are not routinely checked by state or federal authorities. Of the 367 customers who signed those forms at the Worcester range in January, 22 were felons, he said."
What kind of license is he talking about? A firearm license, I don't have one and I own guns and I've rented them... oops looks like I'm dangerous. It always amazes me how many sheriffs and police chiefs know very little about actual gun laws.
The number of felons renting guns surprised me. I have heard many stories about gangstas and nutjobs at the range, mixed in with them are the felons.

So because some whacked out chick took herself out with a rental 9mm the entire country should have to change its rental rules? That is rediculous. Just a few days ago a guy in my home town killed his wife and daughter with a steak knife and then proceeded to jump off of a bridge and kill himself. I haven't heard anything on the news about banning steak knives and bridges... I guess I just have too much common sense.

For three straight days, she honed her aim and hit bull's-eye after bull's-eye from the firing line at the Boston Gun Range
|
I feel it weird that she needed to pratice for 3 days straight to make sure she could hit herself in the head with the gun.
I would also like to know what kind of fealonies that those 22 people had commited. I know there are a lot of fealonies I feel that shouldn't ban people from gun ownership.

Wait a minute...does this mean the renters could take the guns HOME with them? The ranges here only let you rent it on premise and you must surrender it when you are done. I'm confused.
Plus, they don't require any kind of license...just $10 an hour.

That happened here in the bay area, it caused some of the ranges to change policy and not rent to folks that are alone. Insurance and liability reasons they say.

I think she offed herself at the range, on the firing line.

You should check out their website. Pretty fancy. You use a gun with a laser site to navigate.

Not surprising... I remember joking to my brother in law when I got my XD... he said "you better not shoot yourself with that thing because I don't want to find you." I replied "Why would I spend $450+ on a gun to shoot myself with when I could have just rented one for $5?"
If someone wants to kill themselves bad enough, they're going to do it. Rental gun, stolen gun, kitchen spoon... they'll find a way.
