What makes these so wonderful?

I am totally ignorant about P7's. What makes them so great, so expensive, and such a great CCW piece?

Enlighten me!

A P7, is a German Made Heckler and Koch hand gun. Primarily designed for police use. It has an extremely narrow profile. Very flat. It is a gas-retarded, recoil action handgun. It has a gas port and piston. It also has a stationary polygonal barrel versus a floating, rifled barrel. It is extremely accurate and has a low felt recoil. When it was introduced, it was state of the art, and it was a unique deisgn. Not a Browning variant like most other handguns. They are discontinued after many years of production, and demand has shot up. They have skyrocketed in price over the years, and are climbing higher daily. A quick surf through Gunbroker will give you an idea what they are going for. They also have a "cult" following, and there is literally a forum online called the "Cult of the P7".

You should shoot one sometime. They are awesome. I will NEVER sell this piece.

Oh, I almost left out the most important part. They are also referred to as "Squeezecockers". If you look at a P7 picture, you will see a protrusion on the front of the handgrip. It must be squeezed inward in order to fire the pistol. Similar to a backstrap on a 1911 or XD

Thanks for the info, LUVMYSIGP225! I'm scared to go check out that "Cult of the P7" site for fear I'm gonna want one!

That squeeze cocker seems a little funky. Wouldn't it be "squeezed" when in a holster, making AD's more likely?

not if the holster is designed for the weapon. it does require deliberate pressure to squeeze the cocking mechanism. but that is what makes the pistol so beautiful. you have true single action weapon, with NO external safety, that can be carried with one in the chamber with complete safety. look at it like this squeezing the cocker pulls the hammer back. pulling the trigger releases it.

i tell you, perfect. if you have the cash, hop on one as soon as you can.

Knight of light,

Yep, they are up there in price. Especially for being a little 9mm. I can remember the PSP model P7's(which are the older, less refined version) going for $300 years ago. Now, they are tough to find $800. The P7M8's are all going $1200 and higher, and the P7M13's are going higher than that(if you can find one). It is kind of absurd, but they are such a fun gun to carry and own, so I guess I will play the fool and pay the price.
