This year is my 20th and I haven't been to a single reunion yet. No desire to "strike it up" with people I went to school with twenty years ago. That's just me.

Went to my wifes a while ago, and boy you are right, they don't change. I could not stand HS, and the people here have not changed. One of them I see fairly often about town, and she is still a nitwit acting like a 14yo.

I went to my 5 year and experienced the "they don't change" thing. This summer I went to my 20th for various reasons (long story -- I was coerced) and ended up having a great time! Most people had changed quite a bit. Some people hadn't and I found that even people they were close to commented negatively on that fact. I ended up being happy that I went and I am actually looking forward to the planned informal 25th. I got reacquanted with a few people and we have kept in contact and resumed our friendships ignoring the 20 year gap. I'm still glad I skipped my 10th however, I would encourage people to give the 20th and later a chance. People do grow up, mature and get a grip over time. Those who don't will find themselves to be ridiculed by those who have.

I would rather get kicked in the sack then go to a HS reunion. If I don't talk to them now, why spend a few hours talking about crap that was petty and many moons ago.
I bet she is the only one that shows up.

I actually agree with deepdiver.
I went to my 10 year reunion and it was OK, but nothing great. Some people had changed, but not much. AT my 20 year reunion I had a BLAST!! A whole bunch of the snotty princess types were actually down to earth at last and the geek that everyone made fun of is now a millionaire. I didn't have a dull moment for the whole weekend. Lots of booze and lots to talk about. The crazy part was how many people had kids that were in COLLEGE!! (I can't be THAT old,... can I??) I ended the whole weekend getting drunk with the captain of the football team (we never talked in school and he now does freelance IT work), the guy that used to beat me up for fun back in grade school (now a Highway Patrol officer) and a couple guys I played softball with (ones a commercial airline pilot and the other is a farmer). We drank until 4am and laughed our butts off. All in all, a great weekend. I'd suggest going to your 20 year at least. You can always leave early.

I recall my 10th especially because one of the football jocks was blotto and made a fool of himself on the dance floor. He did have a beautiful wife tho. He had been an All American at UCLA for Protho (sp). He was in excellent shape.
At the 20th, after being released from the Oakland Raiders as their star center for years, divorced and over 300lbs and grossly out of shape, he got blotto and pulled down the decorations above the dance floor. I guess somethings never change. Oh, the geek went to MIT and became a full professor there. I was the only one to go into le. If they have one next year, I would go; it would be the 40th. I think it'd be interesting. |

I wouldn't go to a HS reunion if someone kidnapped me to one. The people from this small town most likely are still the losers I see fartin around in our small town. Rotten back then...and are still rotten.
I find it hillarious to see the girls that were "hot" in school...are now fat slobs with a dozen kids and with a slob old man. The so called "jocks" that were suppose to be super stars....are now bald headed and fat..never made it in anywhere other than workin for their Daddy diggin ditches. The super cool basketball star of the county...sat on the bench his entire college sports career. Then I run into the dude's that use to pick on me in school....the look on their faces when I'm with my good lookin fiance....and am bigger than they are now. Lt. Day was my nickname since I liked to wear army jackets in school....for the xtra pockets. One of the jerks was in the gas station when I went in open carryin not long ago...."how ya doing Matt"
