Bounty Hunters

So my wife and I pull up to the house after dinner this evening and find two trucks in front of our house (in the ghetto). We roll down the window and ask if they need anything...they say they are bounty hunters and show us a file and ask if we've seen this guy; apparently he is one or our neighbor's friend/lover who knows. It was for jumping bail pertaining to check by theft. This does it, I'm signing up for a carry license. If anything else is a sign one of my wife's friends came over today and she was packing an XD40!!!! I see one as coincidence and two as a sign. I'm not holding out for three!!

Don't bounty hunters end up in shoot outs or some level of violence? I hope they dont escalate anything across the street

Sorry about your luck, but I am glad to see that you have decided to get your CCW license. Maybe if more were like you out there, the world would be a safer place.

Bounty hunters rarely get into shoot outs. My FFL dealer is a bounty hunter ("bail enforcer" here in DE). He and his son go after people who fail to show up at court, or jump bail, or whatever. Typically, these aren't serious "armed and dangerous" people. If there ever was a need for him to shoot, I pity the guy on the other end of his weapon: I saw one of his "qualifying" targets, with a VERY TIGHT group, IN the bull's-eye.

I wouldn't worry too much about a shoot out across the street. But do seek out your CCW permit, because you never know where ELSE you may need to protect yourself or your loved ones.

Must . . . resist . . urge . . to type this. Bah! I fail!

Did they have cannisters of Bear Mace in thigh holsters?

Good choice on going for the permit though!

did the bounty hunters resemble this:

No mace, but my wife did ask if he had his own show! We will move sometime, but not yet. We bought the house in grad school and are still broke

There have been a couple shootings within 5 blocks, not extremely close but enough that my gun shy wife has said yes to carrying.

Her friend is awesome, I showed her the xdtalk forum and we talked/compared XDs for a bit
