Yes, that holster (and everything else hard plastic) is just gosh-awful
Three words for you: DeSantis Speed Scabbard! Comfortable, well made, ultra durable and not overly expensive. This is the best way I have found to carry the XD-40 Service, 96 Beretta and a 5" 1911. Try one...if you don't think its ultra comfortable, theres something wrong with you. - Brickboy240

You can also check out Don Hume's holsters, the OWB open top
http://www.donhume.com/Products/Prod...m?ProductID=44 ot the IWB, as shown here http://www.donhume.com/Products/Prod...m?ProductID=35 They are excellent products at a very reasonable price. I own both of these and they are very confortable (the IWB is surprisingly comfortable even for a 6'2", 240 lbs guy like me!) Check them out, you have nothing to loose. |

You think the XD holster is crap, wait till you use a Fobus. I have one for my 1911 and its good for a car holster, thats IT.

The XD gear holster that came with my XD SC messed up the finish on my pre-melonite .40 the first time I put it in and pulled it out. It was a good excuse to get get it duracoated by James...

Hmmm .. should I even BUY an XD now ?
After reading this thread .. makes me wonder if I may be throwing away money on a "package" I really will not like nor use ....
Had not given much thought to the "extras" that come in the package .. so far I have just went by what the XD 9mm and the Glock 17 felt like in my hand ..... Hmmmmm, now what to do .. I "was" leaning more towards the XD .. now ??? Gordon Last edited by GeoGordie : 03-22-2007 at 09:00 AM. |

Pistols coming with useless accessories is nothing new.
Anybody that has bought a Kimber, Colt or Springer 1911 can attest. You almost have to toss their crappy factory mags and buy some Wilson or McCormicks, or you're in for very short magazine lives. I buy for the PISTOL...not the other junk that comes with it or the neato case. - Brickboy240

You have a VERY Valid point here ... you don't always buy a car JUST BECAUSE it has leather seats ...
Still, you wonder about "factory extras" ... Granted that having been said .. I still like the FEEL of an XD and Point / Sight when brought up to eye level over the "tilt" that most people need with a Glock. In all likely hood, I will still purchase the XD and try Wild Bill Holsters to finish out the "gear". Now, as for the Mag Helper for reloading the mags .. any suggestions on that venue? Regards, Gordon |
