Cell Phone Question.

IM BACK!
havent been on here in a long time, anyhow.....

I have a plan with alltel now but if I can find something = to or better somewhere else, Im willing to cancel early..
I want a RAZR.
I need a family plan though..
but down to the question....
Could I buy a razr without service and take it where ever I wanted and have a plan put on it or do I have to buy the phone/plan together..?

thanks.

If you have a GSM carrier you want to go to, buy an unlocked one on Ebay. If you have a CDMA carrier, youre SOL.

Just so you know my two friends with RAZR's absolutely hate them. "Worst cell phone quality ever!" says one. The other has to reboot his phone 4 times a day. He just yanks the battery out because its faster than holding down power for 5 seconds and waiting for the shutdown.
And that's his second RAZR...the first had volume issues and he made them replace it after 30 days.

but they sure are pretty phones....

Samsung and LG make decent phones.

Yep, I had my RAZR for a month and got rid of it. Mine kept shutting off all on its own. I'd pull it off my belt clip and the thing would be totally shut off....turning off all on its own. What a pain! Co-workers walk up and say "where have you been...I've been calling?" Then I look and the damn RAZR is totally shut off....argh! Enough of that nonsense. I ditched it.

Then, theres the fact that its only digital and if you ever go into a remote area, you cannot switch the thing to analog and at least call out...its a paperweight. Useless in any sort of remote area.

I know they look cool and feel cool in the hand, but thats where it ends. Sorta like the Mini-14.

Junk...buy an LG or other Motorola phone...the RAZR is NOT worth fooling with at all.

Sprint has been good for me. 65.00 for 800 min's family plan. We have two phones, but can add 3 more. Free when talking to anyone with a line in the plan. My wife and I can talk all we want, and its free. Also got some Samsung 500 phones for 29.00 each with the plan, and they work great. Smaller than the RAZR too.

Yuck on the RAZR. I had one and returned it in 3 days. SUCKED. Had a Motorola E815 w/ verizon for forever and now have a Motorola Q. I've always had great luck w/ Motorola phones other than the RAZR. I think I pay $100/mo for 1400 mins and another $10 for my wifes phone. I also have the data plan but my work pays for that, I think $50/mo? LOVE verizon. I've had sprint, at&t and cingular and verizon beats them all in my opinion.

My RAZR on Alltel had no problems other than me doing stupid stuff (dropping, etc.). Your mileage may vary as far as those are concerned. My fiance also had one on T-Mo and it was fine as well.

I'm with Sprint now and I love it, and the plan pricing is fantastic through the deal I got (30 bucks a month for 500 anytime, free nights/weekends starting at 7pm, and unlimited web/e-mail Power Vision access!).

Hated my Razr. Granted it was a tough metal booger, but I still hated the sound, picture quality, and it was never loud enough.

for some really great deals checkout sprint.com/sero but you need a sprint employee address to see the deals, just get one off a business card at a store
