I had Vonage, got rid of it. Had quality issues. Lots of noise and static. They couldn't fix it.
I went to RoadRunner Internet Phone. It is flawless. Absolutely love it. Be careful if you go Vonage. They have not been doing good financially to begin with, and they just lost a major lawsuit to Verizon. I will be suprised if they are around in a year or two.

RoadRunner is Time Warner Cable's Digital (internet and phone) division. It would be the same as Comcast's digital phone.
I've had Time Warner's digital phone for a while now and it works fine for us. We're pretty heavy cell phone users, though, so we don't use the home phone for much. I know a few people who have had Vonage for quite a while, too. They all swear by it. |

I've got vonage. Had it now for several years. For some people it works great, for others not so much. Why... dunno...
With the recent lawsuit against vonage I've started looking at other providers though. I kinda dont' feel like vonage is going to be around for much longer. They aren't super profitable, and with their pretty much failed IPO and now the lawsuit.... only time will tell. |

SunRocket here
I just got SunRocket, and I'm pretty content. It's had a few bugs here and there, but I'd much rather pay $18/month instead of $78/month! VOIP phone service is still young, and I'm willing to put up with a garbled word here and there for the savings.
Plus, their customer service is excellent, and they are native English speakers! Always a plus when you can understand them!

I have Viatalk. It's pretty good. I notice they usually have a banner ad at the bottom of a lot of xdtalk pages too.

One thing you should all be aware of, when switching to voice over IP, is that many of the digital phone services do not work, or do not work WELL with Enhanced 911 (E-911). with E-911 when you dial 911, all of your information will show up on a screen: where you are, a map of your area, the number you are calling from, and all the responsible agencies for your residence.
Time Warner seems to have their ducks in a row, so far with E-911 - Vonage does not. I don't know of any dealings with any others in my area, yet. The benefits of E-911 are that it allows them to get help on its way to you, without having to debate where you are. Whichever one you decide to go with, make sure they are compatible with E-911, and even have them make a test call to the 911 center after installation, and prior to leaving, so that they can verify everything that shows up on their screen. |

I started w/ Earthlink Voice and it was fine then when vonage was offered in the area, I went w/ them for $7 a month less. Flawless service so far w/ both. (2 yrs on ea). The really nice thing was when I went on vacation I took my vonage modem w/ me and was able to make local calls back home to check on business instead of paying the toll rate from Hawaii to Ohio.
