For barreled actions, I take them to the car wash, no kidding, and hit them with the high pressure soap and water. Works great. Take it home, use some compressed air to be sure it's dry, a wipe down with CLP, and you're good to go. I run a mineral spirits soaked patch down the bore to be sure there's no cosmo left behind, followed by foaming bore cleaner, (Break Free FBC is awesome!), and CLP.

Small parts, (bolts, trigger groups, pins, etc.), get soaked in mineral spirits and worked over with a small paint brush. It melts the cosmo away like magic, and doesn't harm bluing or parkerizing. A wipe with CLP afterwards, and you're done.

For wood, I bleed out as much cosmo as possible in a low heat oven, wiping the wood every 10-15 minutes. Then a quick wipe with mineral spirits, and a refinish if wanted or deemed necessary.

Watch out, a C&R license is a ticket to poverty if you're not careful.

The easiest way is to simply take your wife's hair dryer to it...melts right off.
