My technique is to draw the gun so it is immediately pointed towards the target, keep it close in to my torso as I raise it up towards my chest while the support hand comes in, and then straighten my arms out until they are slightly bent. If I have to start pulling the trigger before my arms are extended, then so be it. So I practice quite a bit with my arms bent varying degrees. If your goal is self-defense, you should be shooting from as many positions as possible. If you have to shoot from a chair in self-defense, you don't want that to be the first time. Even if you've only done it a few times, it might make all the difference in terms of your ability to act.
