Currently at 52.4 hours of primary training in a bell 206b (TH-67) with my next check ride this thursday, weather permitting. We start inst. training academics this week and start the sims next week. There's nothing more fun than beating the air into submission.

I've had my SEL PPL since Aug 2003. Just got a $100 hamburger up in Sedona this weekend. Only got maybe 150 hours TT. I'm dying to get into helicopters. I took two "intro" lessons and I was hooked. I'd love for a career change, but I'm not looking to move to where the jobs are...

fighting back through sleep apnea correction.

No one ever believe these words... "Hi my name is , I'm w/ the FAA and I'm here to help"

I was actually trying to get my 1st class because I had been thinking about going to ATP's 90 day wonder program. I'd like to get into corporate flying at some point. I have 3 friends who could walk my resume in to NetJets in Columbus if I can get the min hrs.

Fly-Sig, that was the geared prop wasn't it? I got my private ticket in 1973 while attending Auburn University. My entire ticket with rental and gas was $650. Ground school was a for credit course as I was enrolled in Aviation Management. Those were the (cheap) days!

Speaking of the "cheap" days, what does it generally cost to get a PPL ? I have been looking around Huntsville and it seems to be $4500 to $5000. Is that reasonable?

I took the military comp. test for my commercial inst. helicopter ticket today. $50 for a 3.5 hour review and the test. Now I just have to wait to get my orders for my wings and they hand me my ticket. There was a price war going on here for the comp exam and fortunately I took it at a good time. The price is supposed to go up now. It was around $140 about two months ago.

Yup thats about right. Depends a lot on how fast you learn, how much you fly (you'll need more lessons if you only fly once a month than if you fly 3 times a week), whether you go with a large school or a freelance CFI, and cost of planes available to you. But those numbers are about average. Probably a little high if you're in the boonies.
