http://www.garmin.com/

Go to the above link and look around, you can compare all there units, and find one to fit your needs.

I have a Garmin Etrex Legend CX, around $250.00
I use City navigator maps from Garmin $ 120.00
I bought a 2GB micro card for GPS $50.00
Rechargeable batteries & charger $35.00
Power cable for car $35.00

So I have around $490.00 in my setup and am very happy with it.

I have all the USA, Canada, Virgin Islands, Alaska, and Hawaii on my handheld GPS.

They are as addictive as guns are, and a lot of fun.
Also check out http://www.geocaching.com/ for fun for the whole family with your GPS.

This one got a good review in this months F&S. When I upgrade mine, which will be soon, I think this is the one I'll seriously look at. I like the feature of being able to dl ariel photos and sat imagery to overlay on the gps.

the only bad thing with mine is if the cover is to thick over head no signal=no way to tell where you are... but im a man and i never get lost anyways

If it matters to you and you want to buy American, then the Garmin is the one for you. I believe they are made close to Kansas City. Another major manufacturer of GPS's is Magellan. They are a company based in France.

Good luck in your purchase!

You didn't say what you intend to use the GPS for, so I'll address driving only, not geo-caching. I have the Garmin 2720 and love it. Came loaded with all US maps so you don't have to worry about adequate memory for different sections of the country.

Use it mainly on the trike when going across country. Try to find back roads and then when it's time to stop for the day, just ask it to find a hotel or restaurant and get back to the main roads easier.

I have a Garmin GPS V series, and it is very nice. Take a look at this one as the standard...

If you are interested in a like new Garmin Etrex Vista let me know. It comes with a dash mount and video on how to use it. I now use a car unit and don't need a handheld one.

http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...d.php?t=172813

+1 on the garmins, i have a 60cx and i love it, great for the car, and for hunting, geocaching, and whatever else you need it for.

Its also fun to turn it on while on a plane, my gps shows the topspeed at something like 550 mph
