Question Question, CT permit moving to NC???

Hello, A friend has his CT pistol permit and will be moving to NC soon, NC does not accept CT permits, I did search and cannot find anything about what has to be done. When he moves he will be driving to NC, with guns, to NC, is this illegal? Also, once he gets to NC, he has guns & no NC permit, Does he have to take the safety course all over again? What needs to be done when moving out of state?

Thanks,
Dave

While I don't know about NC laws, I think it's safe to say that he will have to have a NC permit. Most states, if they have concealed carry there then you must use their permit to carry in the state if that is where you live.

Whether or not NC honors the CT permit, I don't know. But even if they do, once he lives there he would most likely have to get the NC permit.

About transporting the guns there. If he's not sure, then obviously the best thing for him to do is just lock them in the trunk unloaded.

some states have non resident ccw permits. check out nc ccw laws and see if they offer one. he should be able to use the non resisdent permit until he becomes a resident. but there'll still be a period where he has no ccw permit.
