They have done at least 11 of my guns with their hard chrome finish. They can do matte/brushed/polished finishes in chrome for you. Whatever finish I chose, I always went with a matte finish on the top of the slide to eliminate glare when I'm looking at my sight picture.

No you can't do hard chrome yourself but this is the best place to get it done.

I guess I'll have to give them a try. What was the turnaround time for your son's XD? Since I'm in Texas too, so shipping is practically overnight....or maybe even a drive to the facility.

Holy Crap! I just looked it up on the map. Maybe paying shipping will be better than the 16 hour 1,120 mile roundtrip from North Dallas.. LOL

Tripp custom built a race gun for a shooting buddy a while back, I got to shoot it. Man it was a pleasure to shoot. The shooting buddy took it to a match in San Antonio a few months ago and it was stolen he was P$$#d. I think he said he paid over 3K for it.

I bet he was a little torqued. I had $2200 wrapped up in that Kimber, but man I never shot it enough. I always had stuff come up that I couldn't go to a meet, and at the time I was heavy into the cowboy action shooting, and an avid member of the Single Action Shooting Society. I just lost interest in it and parted with it for $2000.

I'll check with my son tomorrow and see what kind of return time Tripp is having. He's pretty good about returning emails you might want to send him one.
