Shot Spotter in minneapolis off to a great start!

The Shot Spotter system used by Minneapolis Police combines a surveillance camera with a sound sensor that detects and pinpoints gunfire up to two miles away.

Bout time they do more to catch criminals with guns insteed of making up new one that dont even make a difference turned on at 6pm and cought a the first dumbass at 1 am

I would hate to be a CCW'er in this area , What would happen if a shot was detecetd and you and a few CCW friends were passing near the area , Who are they going to consider guilty ? And how long do i get detained until they figure out what going on ?

never thought about that but it is pretty easy to tell if a gun has just been shot

I'm all for new technology that helps catch people who are actually breaking the law instead of more new restrictions that only affect law-abiding citizens.

The system uses sound sensors hooked to computers to triangulate the shooters location. If it is working right it should locate the position within a few feet. If you are that close and carrying you are probably involved.

lol the area that they are set up in i would not go if i was with 3 of my friends and we all had ARs pretty sure this is where they coined the term muderapolis

I don't know about a few feet. It would all depend on how far away the sensors are located and the terrain of the area. I would guess that it is good within a few city blocks but then again depends on the terrain and the area they are installed at.
