So nobody can have a custom gun built with a custom serial number. I have seen 1 site so far that will use a custom serial number which I think they shouldn't beable to do.

I dont remember but dont your serial number get registered with the government? If so I guess as long as the person building the firearm and issuing the serial number registers the number it should be fine, since the government wouldnt issue the same number twice... lets hope not anyway.

Serial #'s are assigned by the manufacturer...different makes of firearm could possibly have identical serial #'s...but they are different makes of firearm, so...

What's wrong with a custom serial number? It's kind of like a custom licence plate; doesn't hurt anyone and adds a bit of flair to a nice gun.

If I had a gun with a custom serial #, it would be 666.

a buddy of mine built a 1911 on a Caspian frame and slide. He was able to pay for and choose a custom serial number. Pretty cool stuff!

I've heard people say so no one can file a stolen gun report with your serial. Never heard of it happening but I guess it's possible.

That's why you always keep the bill of sale and/or receipt.
