Don't do any more than your career can handle. I work for the USPS. I do not carry going back and forth to work. I usually park on site and have to use my vehicle for "company" business.

Am I happy about that? No.

Do I want to risk my career? Also no.

Let's say you work at a bank. You have to drive to the bank in the city, you have to park in a parking lot, you have to go back to you car after work, when it is dark. What do you do?
How on earth would anyone ever find out? Are you going to be waiving it around or something? If I am in a place that doesn't frisk or have metal detectors, I'm packing and nobody's the wiser.

There is another option you could try. What about having a lock box area in the employee section of the bank that is supervised by either the security guard or the on duty manager. That way employees with valid CCW permits could carry to work, but not actually IN work because they lock it up once they get there. Then they get the gun back as they leave and walk to their car. I don't know if you have that much authority as a branch manager to impliment that on your own, but you could bring the idea up with upper management.

Our company policy handbook states quite plainly that the carrying of WEAPONS on company property, which specifically includes in your car in the parking lot, is against the rules. Which means no guns, no knives, no pepper spray -- nothing that constitutes a "weapon". To compensate for this and protect all 300+ of us in the building, they have a single, unarmed guard who sits behind a desk in the lobby of ONE of the entrances. At least we might be forewarned by the sound of the shot when he/she takes the first bullet.

Now, they can't have you arrested for it if you have a CCL, but they sure as heck can fire you for failure to comply with company policy. Most people are not in a position where they can risk being fired like that.

Some states have passed laws saying companies can't enforce a "no guns in car in parking lot" rule. Texas has a bill being submitted next year to attempt this here as well. Unfortunately, Texas is an "at will" employment state, which means a company can fire you on a moment's notice with no explanation necessary BY LAW. So, even if this bill becomes law in Texas, they could still fire us for having a gun in our car and just not say why we were fired.

"How would they find out?" is a good question. Even if they somehow know which of you blabber-mouths have a CCL , if they ask, you can always say "NO - I don't have one in my car" and still not be breaking any LAWS by lying about it (or keep two in your car so saying you don't have ONE isn't even lying ). Some companies have policies that allow cars (and probably employees themselves) to be searched at random, though.

Just get rid of all your NRA, 2nd Amendment, RKBA, and "Molon Labe" window and bumber stickers. Maybe throw on a Greenpeace or "Save the Whales" sticker instead for good measure.

My boss carries to work to but not regularly. he knows I carry and often times I hang my shoulder rig over my chair. I keep my gun in a locked drawer when I do that. I also have my xd as my background on company PC and people comment on how cool it is all the time. And if someone said they did not like it I would say piss on them.

Sorry but I have it made.
