Finding date of manufacture on XD40?
How can you tell what date an XD was made?
I went to Gander Mountain last night to buy one, and had a sneaking suspicion they might be selling old backstock from '05 here in Kansas. Sure enough they had one 4" model left and it was the display model. I was just about to buy it when I remembered that only the newer '06 models had the new coating on them to help with the rust problems. So I asked and the guy opened up the case and the little paper inside that tels you when it was fired said '05. So I said I wanted a new '06 model and could he order one. He said yes but it would be the kit with the holster and all that jazz. So I wanted to know if the date of MFG was embedded in the serial number? Surely there is. Anyone know how to read it? Thanks!
