Question about CCW caliber qualification (nm and utah residents please help)

Ok so i am from new mexico and have been thinking about getting my ccw. New mexico has a law that you can only carry with the caliber that you qualified with or a smaller caliber. I have a the xd40 right now, but when the sc 45's come out ill prolly get one. So i dont want to limit myself to what i can carry.

So here is where i am confused. I am from new mexico, but i have no plan on getting the nm permit (too expensive and you have to renew too often)

So i want to get the Utah permit. If i have the utah permit and not the new mexico, can i carry a 45 even though i did not qualify?

if that sounded too confusing let me know

(oh if anyone in albuquerque wants to let me qualify with there 45, that would be great too!)

There is no restriction as to what you can carry (or how many you can carry) in the state of Utah with a Utah permit. You still have to obey New Mexicos carry laws when carrying in NM. There is nothing on the permit to indicate what you qualified with.

If you have a suppressed full-auto that you legally own, you can conceal it here.

If you are a NM resident can you use the UT permit in NM?? I don't see that restriction in the law but as I like to say "it just don't seem right"

yes you can use the utah permit in new mexico, because nm honors the ut permit, and utah gives permits to non residents

packing.org is usually the best resource for answering state-to-state CCW questions. Problem is that website hasn't been running right for weeks now
