Now, in some movies rifles did work. But in all of those, it was 100% about shot placement - a single round to the forehead returns the undead to rest. Allow me to quote the original, 1968 Night of the Living Dead: "Shoot for the head. Since the radiation has reactivated the brain, destroying the brain will kill the creature.".

In every zombie movie ever made, the guy spraying full auto gets killed and eaten. You either need yer trusty boomstick, or you need precision and a steady hand (depending on the film).

You must do more research if you wish to survive the coming zombie invasion. Invite a bunch of guys over this Saturday, get a case of beer, order some pizza, and go rent every zombie movie Blockbuster has. Fighting zombies requires immense endurance, so you will practice by watching movies straight through the night until 9:00am.

p.s. To the guy who said "broadsword" ... sheesh, I'd think you guys never watched a zom-bee-moo-vee. Close in work requires a chainsaw. Groovy.
I can't believe people are trying to argue ballistics against zombies. Maybe I should add an M203 grenade launcher to my AR. Why stop at a puny shotgun though?

I believe if I was in this situation I'd first shoot the neighbor, sorry buddy. My first choice of weapons would be a Protecta Assault Shotgun, but if that was unavailable, we do have a Winchester model 1300 defender shotgun. Actually on second thought, after the protecta, I'd like to carry the Franchi SPAS-12, not because it's more reliable than the 1300, but just because it looks pretty cool, and you gotta look cool killing zombies, lol. I'd be carrying one of those with some "00". Then I'd probably have a pistol on me in case things got really hairy, and have some rifles in the pickup for when I get out in the middle of nowhere to hole up. Oh wait, I do live out in the middle of nowhere, and we can see everything for miles, lol.

Big +1 on that! At least the Zombies are slow moving and mindless. Reavers are very much alive and fast moving psychos-usually armed too. Funk dat, I'm far less likely to end my own life in a Zombie confrontation to escape the pain of being eaten and raped to death.

And you guys wielding chainsaws and broadswords are forgetting about the splatter. Aren't you worried about getting some in your eyes or mouth and contracting the zombie disease that way? If your gonna make like Army-o-Darkness, you'd better bring your goggles.
