Published Oct 21, 2006 An armed security guard shot and killed a man late Saturday night outside a Rochester convenience store. The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. at the Wilson Farms store on Bay Street.
Rochester Police said the security guard was outside the store when two men approached him with a long gun.

"Apparently the security guard was outside, he was stationed there,” said Rochester Police Chief, Davis Moore.

“There had been a previous robbery here approximately a week ago and he was outside, and as I stated, apparently these two individuals came up to him and confronted him," added Moore.

Police are still searching for the second suspect who fled on foot.

The victim's name was not released, pending family notification.

Good. Hopefully that will put criminals in Rochester on notice: stay away from the Wilson Farms store. You do something dumb, and you might end up dead.

I just hope the security guard isn't hung out to dry for this.

Hopefully this doesn't end up like "we gave you the gun to scare them, NOT shoot them, you're fired, and on your own"

Please try to give us a followup on this if at all possible.

I like how they called the guy who supposedly confronted the security guard with a rifle and got shot "the victim"

I think it is accurate to call him a victim; of his own stupidity.

A little more info. The 4th justified homicide in the city this year. But then says it's probably going before grand jury for final decision if it was justified. Waste of tax money.

In most states a shooting involving a guard goes before a Grand Jury. The probelm I see is that it doesn't look like the weapon was recovered. So unless there is a security tape or other witnesses, it's his word on what happpend. Of course dead men(AKA Bad Guy) tell no tales, so it's up in the air if the jury will accept the story.

I wish the guy luck and hope he can afford his own attorney because I'm sure the company isn't going to back him in the not so distant future civil suit.
