I'll pay 5 dollars. At hunter saftey class (required by state law if you're born after 72 or some year...) they showed 2 guns that looked similar to that one because of dirt obstructions.

I think it is actually a picture of the new Ruger .30 Octopussy rifle. Advertised for those who think a single light rail is not sufficient. With this new wonder you can mount your Aimpoint, rail light, Eotech, cell phone, and video camera (that one was for you KOL!) all at the same time. How can you possibly miss your target now?

Why don't you guys try it? I will pay to see it. $1 per ticket.
Well the metal on unit never actually touches the rifling, I've seen it before and it works with magnets and o-rings. It "locks in", but I cant imagine it "locking in" any harder than a round jamed in the middle of the barrel. Bullets make a pretty tight seal and having cleared a squib load, it takes a bit of force to do it. I've seen it happen on a 30-06 and it bulged the barrel slightly, but certainly did not explode it. Maybe it was a cheap barrel, I don't know.

But if you feel fit to send me a rifle then I'll test it.

Ya know, I just may do that.

Why would the barrel peel almost all the way back to the action in almost equal size pieces that aren't jagged?? Once the barrel is punchered, the gas go out that hole........It happened to me on a 9.3mm rifle with handloads. One squibbed and I didn't know it, then BOOM, the next round blew out the barrel 4" from the muzzle. I've seen .308s with blown out barrels on 'lightweight' selectfire FALs that shot 2 rounds after the squib just behind the gas port and it blew the hand guards apart and the front section of the barrel went down range.

9.3mm compared to a x54r (taken from my buddy's post on another sight)

EDIT: I have a Romanian 7.62x39 barrel and trunion that I don't need. gimme some time to rig up a locked bolt for it and weld up the gas port and weld a cap to the end of it and I'll try it, remotely of course. Romanians have thin barrels too, so I predict it will split the barrel and thats that. And if it doesn't 'banana' the barrel, what you gonna give me??

That's what the rifle at hunter-saftey class looked like. Not peeled all of the way back to the handguard, but it was all cleanly torn non-jagged pieces. I'd assume because the pressure rips it at the rifling? I do not doubt the authenticity of these photos having seen very similar examples first hand.

I don't really want anyone to get hurt. I really don't know the full circumstances but my dad sent me these pictures. A friend of his was at the range and he saw the rifle sitting on the bench. After a brief introduction he leanred the LaserLite boresighter story I told you guys. I don't know what the rifle is chambered in. I assume something like 30-06 or larger. Something with a lot of powder for a lot of gas.

Because of that I must ask my dad where his "buddy" got the pictures.

Since it seems some doubt this picture is real, as to how the barrel really got that way. Remember not to miss the point that KOL is trying to make. Be sure to remove the bore sighters before shooting. Even if this boresighter didn't cause that damage, which I have no reason to believe it didn't, you still risk damaging your gun, or yourself if you fire the gun with it in there.

I have a boresighter kinda like that, and I don't know how someone could be so dumb to forget it's in there. You're boresighting, you should know damn well that it's in the barrel and after you get it sighted in, you remove it to shoot.
