I have a small safe in my apartment that is bolted to the ground. It's within a foot of my bed and on the side of my bed opposite the door.

Hey Old School, just curious....if you don't mind me asking, how much do one of those run?

All rifles in wall storage units (lockable cross bars and trigger cable). You'd have to tear the wall down to get them out - and you still can't get the lag bolts out of the cross beams installed behind the drywall.

Duty pistol and mags in a wall safe, along with duty ammo.

Home defense pistol stored in a removable safty holder close at hand. Second defense pistol stored in a secure location on first floor.

No kids, so I don't need to lock everything uip tight (makes it awfully hard to get to when YOU need it).

I think the only drawback to this is that the keypad is small and the numbers are almost touching each other. And you need a light to see the pad. Try puching in your code in the middle of the night.
I bet it it's pretty safe and good use during the daytime. I sure woulldn't keep my PD firearm in there, maybe some cash and important papers.
But I would rather use a Gun Vault. Large finger buttons and you don't even need to look at the pad. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...ault&noImage=0

Keep most of mine in my safe in the basement, with the exception of my Mossy 590 (closet, cruiser ready) and my Hk usp compact (bedside drawer, light mounted).

I must be a bad person. It just me and my girlfriend in our apartment. Its a twobedroom with a den. All the guns but the XD are usualy in the den. Wither in the closet, or on the floor. Sometime they get elft in the diningroom or living room. MY XD sits under the coffetable durrign the day, and on the nightstand at night.

I dont lock my guns up. I refuse to use trigger/cable locks. Then agian I dont have kids comming around. I would love to get a stackon cabnit with the storage area, but I have not money for it. Tahy way I would actualy ahve a place for my guns to be organized.

Long guns and non defensive handguns stay locked up in a safe/gun closet and the handguns I carry stay in a small safe on the dresser when im not home. When I am home, one loaded gun stays within reach at all times.

You can find them on-line for about $250. If you can't find any, let me know and I will see what I can do for you.

As for being a big shot, I like to buy things once and hate buying thing over time, working my way up to what I really wanted. I had a little box with an electronic key pad, it worked find. What I really wanted was a wall safe to house a gun, cash, jewelry, etc. This safe is perfect for that.

The buttons are large and it has a light inside that turns on when the door slides down. It is great.
