I appreciate the power of one. But, there is only so much time in the day, and it seems you have a message that is quite important at this time.

So...I am a pacifist, because I don't want to pound democracy down the Iraqui's throat? Whatever. Sorry, but the Iraquis don't deserve democracy at the expense of ANY our soldier's lives and such a large outlay of money and ordinance. What did the Iraquis do to deserve the USA setting up a western styled democracy at the expense of lives, billions of dollars and the dissgust of most of the world? Nothing, if you ask me.

I am sooo sick of everyone and every situation being compared to WWII or Hitler. I never said I was against pounding someone for attacking us on an ally. Saddam should have been room temperature back in 1991.

But nation-building has historically been a losing game for us yanks. I guess Korea and Vietnam taught us nothing. Iraq is looking more and more like Vietnam every day.

We also learned nothing from how we dealt with Lybia and Quadaffi. We did not go into Lybia and try to set up a govt. that we liked. We made strategic air strikes, contained the threat and eventually, they capitulated and gave up on their WMD programs without us putting boots on the ground. If you ask me, thats how to handle these people...not going in and trying an "extreme govt. makeover."

Why do you care how someone treats women thousands of miles away?

How does this affect your daily life or the lives of women in your family, friends or daily interactions?

heh, if enough people like you had that mentality during WW2 we'd either be lamp shades or goose steppers.

I agree, live as you wish....but not at someone elses cost.

The reason for going to war in WW2 I beleive was due to the Pearl Harbor attack that Japan instigated for territorial control. Their impression of the U.S. at that time was that we did not have the means to go to war and thus would be an easy target. So since the U.S. went to war with Japan, Germany felt we were not going to be effective in any way with the European side of the war, Germany declared war on us. Had nothing to do with opression really. Germany was looking to get out of a depression and Japan was looking for resources by expanding its empire.

Back To Nikon & Carcass: I'm still trying to figure out what makes you (Nikon) a Liberal? Just an example of how labels suck and are truley inaccurate/dangerous they are in defining someone.

The WWII and Hitler analogies are usually a sort of knee-jerk answer...much like the leftists "tax cuts for the rich" used to stir up emotion, but not really rooted in logic.

The idea that because one thought Iraq occupation was unnecessary leads some warhawks and pretend patriots to believe that you're some sort of pacifist or chicken....that if some sort of group like Imperial Japan or Nazi Germany came knocking...I'd just roll over and not fight or engage an aggressor of this type.

...hardly!

Its actually worked before. The US, after atom bombing a country twice, was able to help rebuild and establish a democracy in Japan, reviving all kinds of rights that were lost by the Japanese people and even allowing women to vote for the first time. Sounds familiar right? Well all accept the atom bomb part. Anyway, Japan is one of the most successful countries in the world now.

Only after we beat them into complete submission militarily were were we able to help them rebuild....going in militarily and switching from the kill the badguys mode to police keeping mode without a full tactical victory = never winning the conflict

We lost when we stopped bombing those islamic nutjobs into oblivion (not the innocent civilians..the militant asscracks that want to kill everyone that doesnt worship like them)

I love it folks keep saying that 'most terrorist are muslim'.....can I use that when I say that most christians are pedophiles and adulterers and that most priests and preachers are money grubbing child molestors??? I mean, historically they are.........

Maybe if we look back into the history of man its the muslims time to shed blood much the way the christians, catholics, and puratins did during thier time of 'trial/persicution and purification thru pain' sessions.........terrorism by another name. During that time the holy roman church was losing its control as a 'world power' and though they tried, never gained it back?? Maybe....think about it for a while before yall shoot me down......Islaam hasn't 'rounded the world as many times aor with the frequency as 'christianity'......
