Anyone know anything about flags?

Screw PC....My Grandfather in late 1938, escaped with his father from E.Germany in 1963. Wounded in the chest and legs 4 times, lost his pinkie and ring fingers on his left hand and survived a Russian POW camp. (I am the first American born child in my family.)

He was part 6th Infantry Division-got captured with the XXXV Corps when it surrendered in in 1944 during the Summer Soviet offensive that smashed the 6thID and destroyed it in 6JUNE1944 and was disbanded on 18JULY1944.
