I have used that timer a lot. Why is that the one you settled on? Did you look at the CED7000? That is the nicest, smallest, best timer out there and a retail price of $119, it is not much off of the Pact timer.

From what I've heard about the CED 7000 is that the buttons are cheapish feeling and looking, and I like the Pact because you can stick it on your belt or pocket and look down and see it... at first I really liked the 7000, and I guess I still do, I just havent really talked to anybody thats promoted it...

I will be recieving my CED 7000 tomorrow, I ordered it last week and had a little of a hick up in the shipping (they held it back because I did not pick color, I had to call to find out what the issue was). Once I recieve it and try it at the range Both indoors and outdoors, I will post a report.

I based my decision on other shooters recommendations. Several folks who had the Pac timers (different series) and orther CED products. pretty much I only found 2 negative commetns out of several dozens and every person I actually spoke to, told to get the CED 7000 for a "first" timer....

Price was right.....

I just checked the ced website and saw that they had a new belt clip for it that makes it so that you can just grab it and rotate it up a little bit to see the time, so I guess I'm gonna switch back to the 7000. Let me know how it works, cause I'm planin on gettin it for christmas...

I picked up a CED 7000 timer last week. Works great. Yeah the buttons look cheap. It gave great readouts and I bought all of the accessories for it. Waiting on the belt clip. It's small and light I highly recommend it.

How does it look like it will hold up in bad weather conditions... I tend to practice during pretty much any conditions, so I don't want a little rain to fry my timer... thats one reason I'm leaning toward the PACT cause the buttons are supposed to be water resistant...

It looked water resistant but not water proof. You could put it in a ziploc bag then in the wrist holder or belt clip and use it. It's pretty comparable to a small cell phone. I would do that with either one you choose if you are going to be shooting in bad weather. It would bite to drop either in puddle of water.

The outdoor range I go to get's very muddy so when the weather is bad I move indoor and shoot. The CED is susposed to be a very good indoor timer. I haven't used it yet indoors to say first hand though.
