Alleged robber shot dead
From staff reports

An unidentified man was shot dead Tuesday night while allegedly trying to rob a woman in Faubourg Marigny, New Orleans police said.

Police said the woman, 27, and a male companion, 28, were walking about 8:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Rampart Street when another man held a handgun against the woman’s back and demanded money, Garry Flot, a police public information officer, said.

Her companion, who has a concealed weapon permit, pulled his own handgun and shot the gunman several times, police said.

The gunman, who had no identification on him, died at the scene, between Elysian Fields Avenue and Marigny Street.

The case is under investigation, but no charges were filed Tuesday night.

Why CCW? Because, when seconds count, the police are only ten minutes away.

That is how it should be all the time. You can not let people bully you around.

Sorry for the loss of life but you pay to play!

Yes...and she could have been killed or seriously injured even if they both complied. Whats to say the BG wouldnt have shot them both dead in the street to eliminate any unsavory witnesses.

Just making an observation. there was no mention of getting her out of the way or her doing anything to get herself out of the way or anything like that. so I have to make my own mental picture of what took place.

Same here.

I know if it were my wife I probably would have acted in the same way though.

This permit holder could have been like an ex-Navy Seal for all we know.

As far as I'm concerned, it was a job well done.
