OK, I can't resist since Salty seems to want to kick my butt.
As a correction ALL statistics say you probably won't by killed during a robbery. I'll restate what I put in my post, if you have any statistics to support another position let me know as I am always ready to change a position if evidence shows me wrong. I also stand by my explanation on news stories. You will read about pretty much every single robbery where the victim gets shot. For every one that is reported and that you can cut and paste into a post there are apprantly hundreds of armed robberies where the victim isn't shot. It doesn't mean that the BG Union isn't reading statistics (most can't), it just means that you being shot to death makes better news than having your wallet stolen. I agree with you that odds are I won't be robbed. Hell, for me since I have already been robbed the odds are pretty much the equivelant of a sub-atomic particle. But ya know what, I carry everyplace I am legally allowed to and in my home. Do I use my few remaining braincells left over from the 70s to exercise souind judgement how I handle my weapons? Damn straight I do. Same applies to odds of a robber shooting me. If I disregard the fact that most aren't going to kill me and try to draw on some perp who has a gun stuffed up into the woman I love saying he is going to cap her if I twitch and he puts a bullet in her ya know what...I am going to feel like I made a bad choice that wound up with her being shot. Maybe you wouldn't.....we all differ. Here's the thing......I don't think, from what limited info I know about the case that started all this, that the shooter made a bad choice. The outcome certainly bears his choice out. The only point I was trying to make is that there may actually be a situation where not drawing your weapon is a better choice. Yeah, it might feel good to go for the gusto, no matter what the odds are, no matter what the circumstances, but for me I think the more we use our minds in these situations, rather than our emotions the better we are. Glad to hear there are more gun sales after this event. I hope they all get CCWs and carry.

Hmm in that case we shouldn't carry at all, because if they're pointing a gun at us we're not dead yet. That means if we listen to them we'll be fine. In my martial arts we are trained to strike as soon as they put a gun up to our head; to move out of the way of the muzzle and to go for control of the gun at the same time.
