The 6P is great and very dependable. Light output is fine without reflector upgrade. Yes, 123 batteries are a little expensive but they won't fail you if light sits unused for awhile. I think its money well spent.

The 6P is still the standard by which all other duty/tactical lights are judged; it's a fine piece of work and Surefire's claim-to-fame. I carry one in a combo magazine pouch/light holder for concealed carry (living in northern Oregon above the 45th parallel it gets dark a lot of the year).
That being said, a lot of guys carry the G2 (as someone above said, essentially the same thing in a composite instead of metal). Great light, dunno if the big-lumen conversion is worth it due to shortened battery life. 123A batteries ARE a little spendy; I shop for them on Ebay and buy them in 40-unit lots for about $1 each.
