Smart. Very smart. And I'm not being sarcastic. That was probably the best thing to do.

Hmmm... not just smart, but legally required. Anything else and HE would have been charged because leaving the scene and/or attempting to hide or keep the weapon is a crime in itself.

The smart part is that the guy didn't panic and try to do anything else but just sit there and wait.

It may not have been intentional either, but it was also smart that he waited to draw and fire until he had no choice. The other guy threatened to kill him and then physically assaulted him.

I hope the guy doesn't have too hard a time from the authorities. Its going to be hard enough to live with having killed someone as it is.

Interesting that KOMO said that the "gun was legally registered". TO my knowledge, and I hope I'm right, there is no firearm registration in WA state. You think they meant the permit was registered?

Good to see this guy isn't getting screwed over (as of yet). Looks like a pretty justified shooting: "I'm going to kill you" followed by a physical attack in my book is about 10x the justification you could ever need to do what he did.

hell down in louisiana my friends dad had to shoot somebody that was resisting arrest.

he was walking out of a autoparts store and saw a leo struggling with a person over his gun. the leo was asking for help. my friends dad went to his car and grabbed his .45. then he went over and shot the guy 5 times while the cop also got one off into the guys stomach. this guy was still fighting the cop so my friends dad went with the head shot. good thing is my friends dad wasn't prosecuted.

You are correct...Oregon and Washington "register" shooters (CHL permit holders), not pistols.

Update:

Looks like the shooter was using a .357 Ruger.

The guy that was shot had attacked his mom five years ago and set her house on fire. He spent 2 years in prison for that and has been arrested a few times more since then.

Its sad to say but people with mental illnesses that need medication from keeping them from snapping and killing someone should NOT be allowed to walk the streets
When I was in the Marines a guy who off his meds stabbed a 5th grader to death because the kid wouldnt give him his elmers school glue to sniff, right in front of his house, right after stepping off his school bus! People like this should NOT be allowed to live free..sorry..just my $0.02

Because sooner or later they get clorinated out of the genepool...but only AFTER causing a situation like above!
