Also, call the state (or county) department of taxation to get the final resolution. Please note, some states have a use tax that applies when the seller is out-of-state and doesn't collect sales tax. Check out Virginia Sales & Use Tax FAQ, halfway down page, in Consumer's Use Tax section, the buying furniture from North Carolina example.
