I'll have to go read the original paper. But since I'm not a quantum physicist, I probably won't understand that one, either.
What do you do, if I may ask. Fellow scientist and all

Always nice to meet a fellow scientist! What's your field?

I studied a mix of biology, CS, and engineering. I'm actually on hiatus from research at the moment while I try to get a startup going. Our first product is educational software based on some neuroscience theory, we're hoping to expand the company into research in the field if the first product is financially successful. If it flops, I may go back into academia.

My thesis work was in the mathematics and theory of evolution. My lab studies a lot of protein folding, mutational dynamics, modelling of evolving ecosystems, etc. For my thesis work I was applying digital evolution models to problems in astrobiology ... the idea was that by understanding how evolving organisms interact with their chemical environment we can get an idea of how to go looking for lifeforms on other planets. It was fun work.

Ha, I think I just replied to you in another thread.

I got my bachelors in Pharmaceutical Sciences, heavy focus on analytical development at the time. Trotted off to Pharmacy school about 2 years through that process (finished the BS halfway through Pharmacy school). In Pharmacy school I focused my research on THC and associated receptors for treatment of cancer patients with nausea and loss of appetite. Interesting stuff at the time, especially the professor I worked with

Anyway, since graduation, took the state and nationa boards, all that jazz, got licensed for practice, and hung the degree on the wall. Havent used the license to practice yet, although, I did get a part time offer for a consultant pharmacy nearby I may take for fun. For now though, Im a Sr. Scientist working on a few different projects for cancer, couple of orphan drugs, etc, the usual research and development spill Ive mainly been working on analytical stuff, mostly Mass Spec. Ive dabbled in forumulation a bit too, since thats where the other Pharmacists in the company work. IMO, their work is boring, I like mine MUCH better.

EDIT: I forgot, I squeezed a music minor in there somewhere, which was totally useless, but fun Since you mentioned teaching, I had been invited back this year, so I went and gave a lecture or two. Im actually going to teach a bit more in the spring semester, since part of whats covered (analytical methods for proteins) is my area of expertise.

I am a sci-guy as well. I am professor / Sr. research scientist of virology and adv immunology for the medical college. Though in hindsight I should've been a mycologist, so I could say "mycology is better than yours".

Good to see other geeks, and sorry to intrude.

lol @ mycology. Good to see another scientist aboard. Im kind of the oddball out, most the people that I work with have PhD's.

It pays to be a geek though

Nice.

Best part- your comment made me realize that I had forgotten about the mushroom marinara that's been simmering away on the stove for over an hour. I caught it before it burned, thanks!
