School Shooting Prevention
In light of recent events at schools in CO, WI, & PA, I found this article on the limiting of conducting student searches in NM interesting, actually pathetic!

Umm, doesn't acting nervous give a certain amount of probable cause? Every time I've watched any cop show, if a person has drugs in their car or a weapon on them, they start acting really strange. That's when the officers instincts kick in and tell them something is wrong here and they search or ask to search.
I'll all for being protected from unreasonable searches. But if I'm walking down the hall of a school acting really weird, when there's been school shootings in this country several times, long before the recent events, then I expect I'm going to get stopped, questioned, and probably searched. And I don't call that unreasonable. Now if you stopped me walking down the hall, acting like a normal human being with a smile on my face, then searched me, I'd have a problem. But you know this kid was acting really strange for a few reasons. First he had a weapon on him, and drug stuff. And maybe he was going to do something in the school with the weapon. Now that evidence will be supressed and his intentions may never be known. |
