Don't go to our ranges and ruin shooting for the rest of us.
Then they will sue bridge companies for making railings that were too easy to climb, flimsy and easily driven through, or had railing at all to tie ropes too. It will never end.

There was a range suicide around here within the last couple years. A guy rented a gun and stayed until closing time. He waited for everyone else to leave the shooting lanes before he put the gun to himself and took that one last shot. The range operator was left to deal with the mess.

does that range have a safety class for new people coming to shoot? if not, that could also make them loable, due to the fact that they did not check to make sure this guy knew how to USE a handgun. there is one indoor range i go to that requires it and then when you complete the class, you get a card that you HAVE to show everytime you shoot, makes sense to me.

Unfortunately I think this isn't a rare occurrance. I've heard quite a few stories of people going to a public range, renting a gun, and shooting themself.

Whether it's an ND or suicide, people need to place the blame on the person that committed the act.

That sucks. Be ready for your local range to shut down for a long while or at the very least get new insurance that will only allow people to shoot with ammo purchased at the range.

The guy that owns the range near my house owns two ranges and at the other one, the same thing happened. Someone committed suicide at the other range. It shut both of the ranges down for nearly 5 months because his insurance tripled. He ended up finding insurance through the NRA somehow, but the only thing is you are only allowed to shoot ammo that you buy at the range the same day that you're shooting it.

In either case, that definately sucks man...I'd hate to be there when something like that went down.

The indoor ranges I go to don't have a range officer around. Not sure this would fix this, but I think it would discourage some of the reckless behavior I have seen.

Sorry to hear that. Is your range an indoor range? I assume they sign a liability waiver?
