It may make the most sense to do two of these, one on west coast somewhere and one in Orlando... Seems we are getting several takers for both areas. Families will have lots to do in either places Im sure, everyone is closer to one coast than the other... seems to make sense to me.
Everyone chime in and let us know.

Pistol Gear and Canyon Creek are also in the vicinity. And my favorite, it's not Illinois.
Iowa isn't exactly gun friendly either. Unless things have changed (I'm too lazy to look right now), the last time I checked packing.org Iowa reciprocates with no one. An event like this should at least be in a semi-gun friendly state. St. Louis seems more reasonable to me.

I doubt I would be able to attend, regardless of where it is, but just wanted to throw in my two cents.

I thought St. Louis was gun unfriendly too? Vegas would be out then, too, because they don't honor permits from any other state either.

You want gun friendly, come to Utah. Our CCW is accepted in more states than any other, and is easy and inexpensive to get. I can set up a class for out-of-staters as part of the event.

Of course, it gets cold and snowy here too, unless we do it in St. George, which is a little under 2 hours north of Vegas.

As far as I know, Missouri is gun friendly. I guess I need to sit down and get back up to speed on things, but at least last year when I checked before travelling, Missouri honored my Alabama permit. jonas

Kentucky is centrally located, has several forum members, and is VERY gun friendly.

Call me a romantic but the BEST place to hold an XD Groupshoot is where ever 'Old School' chooses. We had PistolGear & Canyon Creek there. Scott and his lovely wife Pari made sure that we all ate well and had plenty of free give aways for everyone. I have attended both the '05 & '06 GroupShoots and they were very well run and organized. This year we also had a very fine class given by Steve Anderson on basic fundamentals. Many of us have shot for many years but it is very easy to pick up bad habits and Steve was very gentle in trying to demonstrate a better way to each shooter. We had many shooters that had not even drawn a weapon from a holster before so please be aware that any gathering will include a wide range of shooters with vast differences in abilities. SAFETY HAS TO BE STRESSED CONSTANTLY from the moment anyone arrives in the parking lot. BEFORE you even get out of the car. Believe me when I say I saw a HUGE difference in the level of comfort the participants had handling a gun at each of the GroupShoots. I drove 485 miles one way to attend, and look forward to doing it again in 2007. Trust me there is allot of work that goes into a GREAT event, like the 2 previous XD GroupShoots. It is more than a bunch of XD enthusiast getting together at the firing line and punching holes. Whatever the Forum members decide for their individual parts of the good ole USA I do wish you luck. I would just recommend that anyone in the Midwest that can make the 2007 XD GroupShoot do so. It will be worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
