CCW question..........
OK so lately I've been doing some personal research in to CCW and the way the laws are interpreted by the local LEO. Just because they are written, doesn't mean everyone knows what they mean.
I am somewhat disappointed The law for SC states that,as a SC resident(non CCW permit), you can carry a loaded handgun in your glovebox, console, or trunk. With CCW Permit, can be carried on your person, or in sealable(not required to be lockable) container anywhere except under seat. I have asked 3 local LEO, and a deputy solicitor and gotten 4 different answers. Dep Solic. states that you can only carry in the glovebox or trunk NOT CONSOLE. IF you have CCW permit, it MUST be on the PERSON. Local City officers stated that it could be GB, Console, or trunk ONLY. Deputy Sheriff stated the SC law, but also said that many LEO do not KNOW the law concerning handgun carry OR CCW. Very disturbing to know that I can get my CCW permit, and be carrying legally, but be given an absolute hell of a time by uninformed LEO. If an officer is having one of "those" nights, and I happened to be pulled over for something, I could be arrested and lose my gun, while actually carrying legally. For now I have printed a copy of the law, and a copy of the interpretation by the SC Attorny General just in case.

When it comes to the law your on your own dude. They make laws to be argued in court not to protect you. This is how lawyers make money. All you can do is understand the law the best you can and hope for the best. Best of luck (along with the rest of us).
